Senior Financial and Modelling Analyst
Are you an experienced financial analyst and modeller, looking for an exciting career move where you can use your previous expertise to play an instrumental role in the success of a mission-led and rapidly growing start-up, while developing and growing your own career even further?
About Protas
Protas is an independent not-for-profit organisation, designing and delivering large, global randomized clinical trials of treatments for common and other life-threatening diseases. Protas is led by the epidemiologist and physician, Professor Sir Martin Landray, who has over 20 years’ experience of leading large, randomized clinical trials as part of a team at Oxford University’s Nuffield Department of Population Health. Most recently, he has been co-leading the landmark RECOVERY clinical trial into treatments for COVID-19 which identified that treatment with the inexpensive steroid drug dexamethasone, improved the chances of survival for the most severe cases. It’s an incredibly rewarding place to work where you’ll be surrounded by supportive colleagues who are experts in their own field of excellence. It’s an exciting time to start with us.
About the role
As the Senior Financial and Modelling Analyst at Protas, you will play an integral role in the growth of the organisation by building the long-term strategic planning financial model to support the development of Protas’ business plan and to enable key Executive decision-making and the implementation of Protas’ long-term strategy that will shape future operations. You will have direct exposure to and continuing engagement with the Executive/Senior leadership team, a unique position that would not ordinarily be available to you in a similar role in a larger organisation. Given the clear commercial focus of role, this is a great opportunity for you to really add value and establish comprehensive financial modelling capability within the organisation, together with meaningful analysis to ensure the right appraisals are made by the Exec Team from the start. In tandem with our pricing strategy and given the interdependencies, your contribution in developing robust short to medium-term forecasts, in addition to the longer-term financial plan will be pivotal to the future viability of Protas. As a start-up that is rapidly growing, you will also be involved in any other strategic initiatives that require financial modelling and evaluation. As the organisation matures, you will be empowered to improve and innovate our methods of reporting and analysis, to drive high quality insights commensurate to the scale and complexity of operations.
About you
You will have gained detailed knowledge and broad experience in your career to date in all aspects of financial modelling and analysis, ideally within the healthcare or life sciences industry. You are a results and forward focused individual with strong financial acumen and want to play a pivotal role in progressing the commercial focus of the organisation, while also sharing in the values of Protas. You would be confident in a highly visible role within the organisation, supporting all aspects of financial and strategic decisions, and comfortable dealing with and communicating effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders and all levels of seniority. You are driven by the challenge of navigating complex issues and ambiguity that will inevitably arise during the growth phase of Protas and you will use innovative and flexible thinking. You adapt easily between working autonomously and collaboratively as part of a wider team, you value being a team player and work with a high level of positivity, integrity and professionalism.
