Protas IT contract awarded to Slalom
Protas, the not-for-profit organisation delivering smarter clinical trials for better health, is pleased to announce that it has awarded a contract to develop and operate a Unified Clinical Trials Management Platform (UCTMP) to Slalom, a purpose-led, global business and technology consulting company, following completion of a successful competitive dialogue public procurement process. The initial term of the contract will be for three years with the option to extend for up to a further four years.
The UCTMP will underpin Protas’ ambitions to design and deliver high quality clinical trials at a fraction of current costs and encourage the development of more treatments for common and other life-threatening diseases, which could have profound implications for patients and the health systems that care for them.
The platform will represent a major step forward in clinical trial management, supporting the safe, trustworthy and efficient use of data, enabling Protas to deliver trials and generate the evidence needed to bring treatments to patients. The platform will be instrumental in reducing the complexity of running large-scale trials ensuring focus on those elements that matter most to the participants in the trial and to those future patients whose care will be impacted by the results. It will encompass modern cloud-based design to develop a modular management IT platform which will be flexible, adaptable and accessible to support the delivery of randomised trials by Protas and third parties.
Commenting on the award Stefan Blixen-Finecke, Chief Information Officer at Protas, said: “Protas’ trial management platform is essential for realising our ambitions of delivering large-scale, high quality and low-cost trials, and we are delighted to have awarded this contract to Slalom. The platform will be unique in its ability to be tailored to the exact needs of each trial protocol, the breadth of activities provided for (logistics, patient pathway, safety, monitoring, etc), the approach to ensuring data quality, and its use of routine health care data. By combining smart randomised trial design with effective technology, built by Slalom, we hope to create more opportunities for efficient clinical development of new treatments for common conditions globally.”
“It is an honour to have been awarded the contract to build the UCTMP with Protas,” commented Jantzen Bridges, Salesforce General Manager at Slalom. “Slalom focuses on helping our clients build better tomorrows for all. We look forward to partnering with Protas to deliver a platform that supports its vision of transforming the way that clinical trials are conducted, increasing diversity and inclusivity in the clinical trials process and ultimately developing treatments that will be more effective in improving health outcomes for all. This is an incredible vision and mission that we look forward to realising with Protas.”
